A-Yoga Holiday with Andrea
Kissamos, Crete, Greece

26th August – 2nd September

£590.00 per week
(Single occupancy supplement £100)

We will be staying in the rural Bay of Kissamos, on the outskirts of Kastelli. Our beach, Mavros Molos, features clean, warm, and shallow waters, perfect for swimming, and a long stretch of golden sandy beach with occasional shingle. Cafes are easily accessible from the beach, which also offers sun umbrellas, showers, and sunbeds. A walk around the bay leads to secluded beaches.

Yoga & Wellbeing

  • Daily Yoga Sessions: Two sessions daily, suitable for beginners and intermediate levels. Start your day with energizing Hatha flow classes, followed by breakfast.
  • Free Time: Explore the area, relax on the beach, or enjoy the company of like-minded people.
  • Evening Sessions: Unwind with restorative Hatha practices focused on healing and relaxation, designed to help you develop your personal practice.

Location

We are situated on the western side of Crete, near Kastelli. Please ensure your flight arrives at Chania (Hania) airport (not Heraklion, which is almost 3 hours away). Flights to Chania depart from Gatwick and Manchester airports on Tuesdays. If flying to Chania is not possible, contact Free Spirit Travel for advice on reaching the venue from Heraklion at minimal cost.

Local Attractions

Beyond the coastal plain lies a mountainous backdrop with gorges and craggy peaks, ideal for easy-grade walks, bird watching, and discovering wildflowers and rural traditions. The yoga space overlooks the beach. Michael Bampounakisis (Mike) and his parents run the taverna where included meals are served, featuring vegetarian food with Greek specialties.

Beaches and Excursions

  • Beaches: Nearby beaches include Falasarna (10 minutes away), Sfinari, Gramvousa Island, and Balos Bay, known for their stunning sands and waters. Mike can arrange taxi rides for beachside evening yoga followed by a meal at a taverna.
  • Excursions: Visit the world-famous organic olive oil mill at Astrikas, where you can purchase award-winning oils. For more information, visit Biolea.

Exploring Chania and Beyond

Chania is a historic walled city with a Venetian harbor, Turkish quarter, narrow streets, markets, and shops. It’s a lively contrast to the peaceful countryside and is accessible via local buses (ask Mike for details).

Walking Tours

Discover villages with churches, rich in artifacts and spectacular views, like the Black Madonna icon in Spilia. Kastelli is a great base for exploring sites such as Agia Triada and Festos. Walk options range from gentle to challenging, with easy walks in Sirikari, Mouri, and Deliana gorges, or more demanding treks in Sassalos and Roka gorges.
